| I will attempt to explain what Fondant is as best as I can. It is used as a coating for cakes, pastries, and candies or sweets. In its simplest form, it is sugar and water cooked to the soft-ball stage, cooled slightly, and stirred or beaten until it is an opaque mass of creamy consistency. When cooked and kneaded as is done with bread dough you can roll into thin layers to cover cakes giving a beautifully smooth finish. Instead of rolling the fondant into a layer it can used to change the way cakes are decorated because of the ability to sculpt, create and design into various shapes much like what is done with clay therefore giving us the ability to create one a kind cake toppers and themes Some of the sweets we eat that contain different forms of fondant are The creamy, white center of a chocolate buttercream candy. The gooey juice that gushes out of a chocolate-covered cherry. The traditional topping for elegant French petits fours. As you can see Fondant has many uses in some of the most common sweets we eat on a daily basis. |
